Cancer Screening Van
Cancer screenings are available at Ellis Fischel Cancer Center in Columbia and also through the Center's Cancer Screening Outreach Services. Its screening van, staffed by certified radiology technologists and nurse examiners, travels to communities throughout central and north-central Missouri.
The 44-foot long van is a clinic on wheels, featuring an examination room and a mammography suite. Both mammogram and clinical breast exam services are offered on the van.
Who can schedule a van visit?
Businesses may request a van visit to provide screenings for their employees. Rural physicians may find the van's services useful for patients who need more comprehensive screening than they can offer locally. Requests also come from church groups, county health departments and civic clubs. But services are not limited to these organizations. Cancer Screening Services staff will work with each requesting agency to tailor a program that will meet its needs.
