Cancer Screening

Cancer Screening Services at Ellis Fischel Cancer Center is an affordable, easy-access detection program that provides examinations to anyone, with emphasis on men and women over the age of 40 and those with a family history of cancer.

Who needs cancer screening?

In the U.S., men have a little less than one in two lifetime risk of developing cancer; for women the risk is a little more than one in three (taken from Cancer Facts 2004) - ACS. The good news is that many cancers, if detected early, can be treated successfully and even cured. Ellis Fischel Cancer Screening Services follows the guidelines of the American Cancer Society in recommending annual cancer checkups for people age 40 and older. Individuals at high risk for cancer may need tests more often.

What to expect when you visit us

Cancer Screening Services offers a variety of programs to meet the specific needs of each person. All screenings are offered conveniently at one location so you don't have to make lots of appointments. If you need only a partial examination to supplement screenings already done by your personal physician, Cancer Screening Services will share results with you and your family doctor. In addition, a specially trained nurse will visit and discuss with you about your medical history and lifestyle. Staff members will help you identify your risks for developing cancer and discuss changes you may want to make in your lifestyle.
