The department of Patient and Family Services at the Ellis Fischel Cancer Center provides services that can ease a journey through cancer. The psychosocial, emotional and spiritual issues that come with a diagnosis of cancer require the intensive support of highly skilled professionals in the areas of social oncology work, counseling psychology and pastoral care.

At Ellis Fischel Cancer Center, the Department of Patient and Family Services becomes involved with every inpatient as well as growing numbers of outpatients and their families. Concerns relating to income, medical insurance, prescription medicine, supplies and equipment, home health and hospice services often are the initial focus.

All staff members are prepared beyond Master's level and hold certification within their fields of expertise. The staff use every opportunity to enhance the strengths of patients and families by providing emotional support as practical needs are addressed.
