Margaret Proctor Mulligan Breast Health and Research Program

The shortest path to detection and diagnosis

Time can seem to stand still from the moment a woman first feels a lump in her breast or receives a mammogram with abnormal results until she receives her diagnosis. At the Margaret Proctor Mulligan Breast Health and Research Program, we understand that speed and convenience are best for patients, both physically and emotionally.

When a woman or her physician first contacts the Margaret Proctor Mulligan Breast Health and Research Program, an appointment can be scheduled within 24 hours. Mammogram and ultrasound results are available the day of her appointment. Often biopsies can be performed at the initial visit, with results available within hours. In many instances, a patient will have her diagnosis the very day of her first appointment.

The Margaret Proctor Mulligan Breast Health and Research Program offers all services necessary for women's breast health, including screening, diagnosis, surgery and post-operation recovery. We even offer a second-option clinic for patients already diagnosed with cancer. Our breast health care team serves women before, during or after treatment.

Patient Jill Housh talks about her care at Ellis Fischel Cancer Center

"My care at Ellis Fischel Cancer Center has been exceptional. With knowledge, the health care team members have cared for me as a patient. With compassion, they have cared for me as a person. They treat me as an individual with ideas of my own, providing me with options and allowing me to make decisions. I have the same nurse with me every step of the way, coordinating my appointments with the other specialists and guiding me through the process. It is very comforting to have a person I know with me from beginning to end." - Patient Jill Housh, Columbia, Mo.
