Construction (continued)

The photo shows that the framing for the first and second floors has been completed. A large pile of construction bricks can be seen in the foreground. Bricks were supplied by A.P. Green Company of Mexico, Missouri. The photo shows the construction status as of Jan. 20, 1939.

By April 30, 1939 brisk construction had allowed for the structural framework to be complete up to the seventh floor, and that the bricks had been set for over half the building. Balconies were built into the structure on the third and fourth floors. These balconies still exist today, but are no longer used.

By May 18, 1939, brick work had extended all the way to just below the sixth floor and the installation of the windows had commenced. The eighth-floor structure can be seen in this photo as well.
