Meals and Medications

Your diet is especially important to your care. Your physician will inform the dietitian of your nutritional needs. Most patients, even those on restricted diets, will receive a menu each morning. At breakfast, you will be asked to order your meals for the next day. The Nutrition and Food Services staff, can assist you if you have questions.

If you miss a regular meal, you will be given a special, light meal on request. If you are in the hospital on your birthday, and your diet permits, you will receive a birthday cake. If you would like to see a dietitian for information about special diets, please ask your doctor, your nurse or the attendant who picks up your menu.

Archway Cafe

The Archway Cafe, located on the ground floor of Ellis Fischel Cancer Center, near the main elevators, is open Monday-Friday from 7:00 am to 6:30 pm, and offers a variety of dining choices including soups, a salad bar, and seasonal specialties.

The cafe is closed on weekends, however staff and visitors may order a patient tray by purchasing a $3.00 meal ticket from the Hospital Switchboard on the first floor and then calling the kitchen at 882-6807 to order your tray.

Medications

To assure you are receiving the correct medications during your hospital stay, please give your nurse any personal medication you bring with you, along with a schedule of the amounts and times you need to take them.
