The staff of Ellis Fischel Cancer Center is committed to these goals in providing you with the best possible health care:
- To treat you with consideration and respect.
- To ensure all communications and records pertaining to your care be treated as confidential.
- To explain clearly all hospital rules and regulations that apply to you or your family.
- To respond to your requests for service to the best of our ability. These services include evaluation, treatment and, when no further services are indicated, referral to another facility in a responsible manner.
- To explain to you, or to an appropriate person on your behalf, current information regarding your diagnosis, treatment and prognosis.
- To ensure that your consent, except in an emergency, be based on specific information regarding procedures and/or treatment, the medical risks involved and the probable time for recovery. Reasonable alternatives to the procedure and/or treatment also will be explained to you.
- If no legal conflict is involved, your right to refuse care will be respected after you have been informed of the consequences.
- To explain to you whenever your participation in a special research project may be desired and obtain from you an informed consent at that time.
- To inform you of your continuing health requirements upon discharge.
- To provide you the opportunity to receive an explanation of your bill regardless of the source of your payment.
