Post-operative activities
The anesthesia care team and the
recovery room nursing staff will do their very best to treat
your post-operative pain and nausea. The anesthesia care team
and the post-anesthesia nurse work together in the recovery
area to keep you safe and comfortable.
With today's new anesthetic agents, post-operative nausea is infrequently
caused by anesthesia. However, certain surgical procedures predispose patients
to develop nausea because they stimulate nausea centers in the body. It is
likely that at the end of surgery, you will not experience any nausea, but
will probably require opioid narcotics for pain relief in the recovery room.
Unfortunately, these pain relievers have nausea as a common side effect.
Once you go home, pain pills can also cause nausea. |
