She's cancer's worst nightmare.

But if you’re a patient, she’s your best friend. She’s Carol Ann Jameson, R.N. Her main job at Ellis Fischel Cancer Center is helping people deal with their cancer, their treatments and how to get on with their lives.

“People come here to live,” says Carol. “Not to die. People cured are my gift.”

Carol Ann and the rest of the staff become family to their patients. That means friends for life. Staying in touch for companionship and guidance long after treatments are over.

Treating the cancer and healing the person is what it’s all about for Carol Ann and Ellis Fischel. That just might even include exchanging recipes and freshly baked muffins with her patients.

“My patients taught me how to be a good nurse,” she says. They sure did.
